** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Kir River (in Albanian, Lumi i Kirit) in Shkodër County is a primarily mountain-fed watercourse whose temperature varies with season, altitude and flow. In winter the river commonly registers between about 4 and 7 °C (39–45 °F) in colder stretches; spring temperatures typically rise to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) as snowmelt increases flow; summer surface temperatures in sheltered, low-velocity pools can reach roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) though faster, higher-altitude reaches often remain cooler; autumn values usually fall back to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) as air temperatures decline. Local microclimates and recent weather can shift these ranges by a few degrees.
Swimming in the Kir is commonly practiced in accessible, calmer sections during the warmer months, but it is not universally regulated as a formal public bathing area. Whether swimming is advisable depends on water temperature, current strength, depth, and water quality; cold mountain-fed flows can cause rapid loss of body heat even on warm days, while spring and autumn floods increase hazard from strong currents and debris. Visitors are advised to choose sheltered pools, avoid high-flow periods, and assess local conditions before entering the water.
