Location & Local Information
The Rijeka Crnojevića River flows through the picturesque region of central Montenegro, connecting the Skadar Lake area with the surrounding hills and wetlands. Known for its calm flow and clear green-blue water, it is one of the most scenic small rivers in the country. Because of its proximity to Skadar Lake and the low altitude, the river has relatively mild water temperatures throughout the year. In spring, the temperature ranges between 13 and 17 °C, while in summer it reaches 22–27 °C. During autumn, it cools to 15–20 °C, and in winter it usually stays above 8 °C thanks to the mild climate. The slow flow and shallow depth make the river pleasant for recreation.
Swimming in the Rijeka Crnojevića is allowed and popular during summer months, particularly from June to September. The warm, clean water and easy access from the small town make it ideal for bathing and short swims. Locals and visitors often swim near the stone bridge or along calmer stretches surrounded by lush vegetation. Besides swimming, the river is also known for boating and fishing.
