*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Višegradsko Lake (Višegradsko jezero) is a large artificial lake formed on the Drina River by the construction of the Višegrad hydroelectric dam in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lake's water regime is directly linked to the Drina, which is a cold-water river of canyon origin. Consequently, the lake maintains relatively cool temperatures throughout the year. In winter, the surface layer is cold, often ranging between 8∘C and 12∘C. During the peak summer period (July and August), the lake’s water temperature rises to a maximum of about 18∘C to 22∘C, making swimming a very fresh, but enjoyable, experience.
Swimming is generally permitted and popular at informal local beaches and recreational areas established along the lake's shores, particularly near the town of Višegrad. Although the lake is a controlled reservoir, it is widely utilized for recreation, fishing, and water sports, with the summer regatta being a major event. Visitors should be mindful that the lake is deep, and the water, despite warming in summer, remains significantly cooler than typical swimming pools. Caution is advised due to the size of the reservoir and potential changes in water level and current.
