*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Black Lake, known as Crno Jezero, is located near Žabljak in northern Montenegro, within the Durmitor National Park. It consists of two connected lakes surrounded by dense pine forests and mountain peaks. Because of its high altitude—over 1,400 meters above sea level—the water remains cool throughout most of the year. In spring, the temperature usually ranges from 6 to 10 °C, while in summer it rises to 15–20 °C, occasionally reaching 21 °C during particularly warm periods. In autumn, it cools again to around 10–14 °C, and in winter it drops close to freezing, with ice often forming on the surface. The water is crystal clear, reflecting the surrounding mountains.
Swimming in Black Lake is allowed but limited to the warmer months, mainly from July to early September. Even then, the water stays refreshingly cold, making it suitable for short swims rather than prolonged bathing. Many visitors enter the lake briefly to cool off after hiking, while others prefer boating or walking along its scenic shores. Due to its pristine environment and clear water, Black Lake is one of Montenegro’s most picturesque natural landmarks, offering a unique combination of mountain climate and tranquil alpine beauty.
