Ribnica Lake, also known as Ribničko Lake, lies near Kraljevo in central Serbia, surrounded by forested hills and mountain slopes of Golija and Stolovi. It is an artificial reservoir with clear, cold water fed by the Ribnica River and mountain springs. Due to its elevation and the inflow of cold water, the lake maintains relatively low temperatures throughout the year. In spring, the temperature ranges between 8 and 13 °C, while in summer it warms to about 18–22 °C. In autumn, it cools to 12–16 °C, and in winter it often drops below 4 °C, with surface ice sometimes appearing in shallow zones.
Swimming in Ribnica Lake is allowed but not officially organized, and it is recommended mainly during July and August when the water reaches its warmest levels. Even then, the temperature remains fresh, making it more suitable for short swims and cooling off rather than long bathing. The clean water and scenic environment attract visitors for recreation, fishing, and boating. However, caution is advised because the lake has steep shores and varying depths.
