Livoq Lake (Ливочко језеро, Liqeni i Livoqit) is an artificial reservoir located near the town of Gjilan in eastern Kosovo. Surrounded by gentle hills and forested slopes, it serves both as a source of drinking water and a place for local recreation. The water temperature in Livoq Lake varies significantly with the seasons. In winter, it averages 3–5 °C, remaining quite cold due to limited sunlight and depth. In spring, the temperature rises to around 10–14 °C, while in summer it can reach 22–25 °C near the surface, making the lake comfortably warm for swimming. By autumn, the water cools again to about 12–15 °C.
Swimming in Livoq Lake is allowed in designated areas and popular during the warmest months. The calm and clear water makes it suitable for bathing, though swimming outside marked zones is not recommended because of underwater vegetation and varying depths. Local residents and visitors often come to relax on its shores, especially in July and August when conditions are most favorable. Beyond swimming, the lake is appreciated for fishing, picnicking, and scenic walks, offering a peaceful escape surrounded by nature close to Gjilan.
