Location & Local Information
Lake Lipkovo is an artificial reservoir located in the northeastern part of North Macedonia, near the village of Lipkovo, not far from Kumanovo. Surrounded by forested hills, the lake serves as an important source of water for the region and a quiet natural retreat. The water temperature varies with the season: during winter it drops to around 3–6 °C, while in summer it typically reaches 22–26 °C in the upper layers. The moderate depth and calm surface allow the water to warm quickly in late spring, creating pleasant conditions for relaxation by the shore.
Swimming in Lake Lipkovo is allowed and often practiced by locals during the summer months, especially from June to early September. The water is generally clean, and the surroundings are peaceful, making it a good place for swimming, fishing, and picnicking. However, as the lake is also used for water supply, swimming is recommended only in designated areas and away from the dam structure. The combination of warm summer water and scenic nature makes Lake Lipkovo one of the more attractive recreational spots in northeastern North Macedonia.
