Location & Local Information
Batllava Lake is a large artificial reservoir located in northeastern Kosovo, near the town of Podujeva, surrounded by forested hills and quiet rural landscapes. Built to supply drinking water to Pristina and nearby areas, it has also become a popular spot for recreation and nature activities. The water temperature varies depending on the season and altitude. During winter, it drops to around 3–6 °C, while in spring it gradually warms up to 12–16 °C. In summer, especially in July and August, Batllava Lake reaches 22–25 °C near the surface, providing comfortable conditions for swimming and boating.
Swimming in Batllava Lake is allowed and quite popular during the warm season. The clear and calm water, along with several accessible shores, makes it suitable for safe bathing. Locals and visitors often swim, kayak, or picnic by the lake from June to September. However, swimming is usually recommended away from the water intake zones used for supply purposes. The surrounding forest and mountain air create a refreshing atmosphere, making Batllava Lake one of the most attractive outdoor destinations in Kosovo.
