*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Katlabuh Lake, located in Odesa Oblast, is a large freshwater reservoir fed by the Danube River and features a sluiced channel to regulate water exchange. Due to its southern location and relatively shallow average depth, the water in the lake warms up very well during the warm season. In summer, particularly in July and August, the surface water temperature of Katlabuh is extremely comfortable, typically ranging from +24 to +26∘C, which creates ideal conditions for swimming and extended periods in the water. The lake usually freezes in winter.
Katlabuh offers good opportunities for recreation and swimming, although its shores have a contrasting nature. The southern banks are often low-lying and marshy, while the northern part features higher, in places steep, banks where areas more suitable for beach recreation naturally form. Swimming here is a popular summer activity, and combined with opportunities for fishing (the lake is home to many fish species) and kayaking, Katlabuh is an attractive spot for nature-based recreation.
Despite the fact that Katlabuh is an important water source for irrigating agricultural lands in the region, which can sometimes affect its level, the lake generally remains an excellent location for summer leisure. As the infrastructure can be minimal, recreation here is primarily wild, although small establishments can be found in the coastal villages. Thanks to its warm water and picturesque northern shores, Katlabuh is a noteworthy water gem of the Odesa region for those seeking warm and peaceful swimming.
