*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Sasyk Lagoon (also known as Kunduk) is a shallow liman in southern Ukraine, with an average depth around 1 m and a maximum depth of about 3.3 m. Because of this low depth, the water can warm up relatively quickly under strong summer sun, producing spots with tolerable temperatures for swimming in warmer months. However, after a dam was built in 1978 that cut its sea connection and brought in more fresh water inflows, the hydrology and salinity regime shifted, making the lagoon more like a freshwater reservoir in places.
Despite the possible warmth, swimming in Sasyk carries risks. Over time pollution has accumulated — reports mention contamination by pesticides, heavy metals, and eutrophication, which sometimes lead to unpleasant smells and greenish water. In fact, the lagoon has been singled out by experts as “too dangerous for swimming” in certain sectors because of water quality concerns. Thus, if someone wants to bathe there, it’s crucial to pick local, well-used access points, assess the clarity and odor of water, and avoid areas that look stagnant or discolored.
In short: yes, conditions can permit swimming in parts of Sasyk Lagoon during hot summer days, especially near cleaner shores. But one should remain cautious, check local water conditions, and avoid more remote zones where water quality may be poor.
