*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lacul Dranov in south‑east Romania experiences distinct seasonal water temperatures typical of temperate inland lakes. In spring the surface water commonly warms from around 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) as air temperatures rise and stratification begins. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with surface readings often between 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) and on warm spells reaching the upper 20s °C (around 80–82 °F), especially in shallower bays. During autumn the lake cools back to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as thermal mixing resumes, and in winter temperatures can fall close to freezing, commonly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) when the lake is unfrozen and lower where ice forms.
Swimming at Lacul Dranov is generally possible during the warmer months when surface temperatures are comfortable for recreational bathing, but practical permission depends on local rules, posted signage and water‑quality monitoring. Authorities or land managers may restrict access if pollution, algal blooms, or unsafe currents are present, and many informal sites lack lifeguards or defined bathing areas, so caution is needed. Ice swimming in winter is not recommended without proper safety measures and official clearance. Visitors should check current conditions, follow local guidance, and avoid swimming when water quality advisories or danger notices are in effect.
