Location & Local Information
Lake Krupac is a large, artificial lake near Nikšić, often referred to by locals as Nikšić's Sea, making it the most significant continental swimming area in Montenegro. Swimming is actively encouraged and allowed in the lake during the summer season, as it boasts a regulated public beach and provides excellent conditions for various water sports. Its clean water, fed by numerous surrounding springs, ensures a pleasant and safe environment for recreational activities.
The lake's water temperature shows a large variation, making it an ideal summer destination. During the cold winter months, from December to February, the temperature drops significantly, typically ranging from 5∘C to 10∘C, which is too cold for general swimming. However, in the peak of summer, particularly in July and August, the water warms up considerably, often reaching a high of up to 28∘C, providing genuinely warm and perfect conditions for extended swimming and all water-based activities.
