Due to its relatively shallow depth, the water in the lake begins to warm up quite quickly with the onset of spring heat. The official swimming season in Kyiv traditionally opens when the water temperature in the city's reservoirs, including Verbne Lake, consistently exceeds +17 or +18∘C. This usually happens in late May or early June.
Throughout the summer, particularly in July and August, given stable hot weather, the water temperature in Verbne Lake often reaches the optimal and most comfortable values for swimming – around +22 to +24∘C.
