Lake Radunka (also known as “Raduzhne” on the Raduzhny microdistrict of Kyiv) is a mid-sized urban lake situated between residential and green zones. Because of its modest size and shallowness near the banks, the sunlit shallows can warm fairly well during summer, possibly reaching the low twenties (around 20-24 °C). But deeper parts or shaded zones tend to remain cooler, making long swims less comfortable if you stray from the edges.
However, swimming there is problematic from a safety and health perspective. Radunka has had repeated issues with water quality: in various seasons, authorities have flagged excess bacterial indicators, and the lake is often listed among Kyiv’s waters where bathing is not recommended or officially banned. In fact, the “Rainbow” beach on Radunka has been subject to restrictions due to sanitary concerns. Even when people do use it informally, it's wise to be cautious: check the water’s clarity, avoid deep or murky spots, and prefer areas close to shore.
