*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Tsonevo Reservoir (Язовир Цонево) is a sizable inland body of water in northeastern Bulgaria whose surface temperature varies markedly through the year. In winter the water near the surface can fall to around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while spring warming typically brings temperatures into the 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) range. By summer, particularly in shallower bays and on sunny days, surface readings commonly reach about 20–27 °C (68–81 °F), and on very warm spells can approach 28 °C (82 °F). Autumn cooling returns the reservoir to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) before winter lows set in again. These figures are general; local wind, depth and inflow conditions can cause substantial variation between sheltered coves and open water.
Swimming at Tsonevo Reservoir is commonly practiced and there are no universal bans, but the area lacks extensive formal bathing infrastructure or lifeguard coverage in many spots. Recreational use is allowed in the sense that visitors routinely enter the water for bathing and cooling off, yet swimmers should be aware of changing water quality, submerged structures, sudden depth changes and boat traffic. For comfort and safety, most people choose to swim in the warmest months when surface temperatures are between about 20 and 27 °C (68–81 °F); checking local advisories or signs is advisable before entering.
