*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Yovkovtsi Reservoir (Язовир Йовковци) experiences clear seasonal shifts in water temperature. In winter the surface commonly falls close to freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while spring warming brings temperatures up to about 8–16 °C (46–61 °F). During the main bathing season in summer the reservoir typically reaches 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), with occasional warmer patches approaching 28 °C (82 °F) in shallow, sunlit bays. In autumn the water cools again to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as air temperatures drop and deeper layers remain cold. Temperatures can vary locally with depth, wind exposure and inflows, so these ranges are approximate and can change year to year.
Recreational swimming at Yovkovtsi is practiced by visitors, but conditions are not the same as at organized beaches. There are no widespread lifeguard services, and access near dam structures, intake towers or steep banks can be restricted for safety and water-supply protection, so some areas are effectively off-limits. Water quality is generally suitable for swimming in many parts of the reservoir, but users should follow posted signs, avoid swimming near infrastructure, be cautious about sudden depth changes and cold layers, and check local guidance before entering the water.
