*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Atanasovsko (Атанасовско езеро) is a shallow coastal lagoon near Burgas whose water temperature varies markedly with season, depth and local weather. In summer the surface can warm to roughly 24–30 °C (75–86 °F), especially in shallow salt pans exposed to sun; late spring typically sees 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) as water absorbs heat, while early autumn temperatures commonly fall in the 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) range. Winter brings much cooler conditions, with temperatures often between 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) depending on cold spells and wind. Short-term fluctuations occur with onshore breezes, evaporation-driven salinity changes and freshwater inflows, so readings can vary across the lake.
Swimming opportunities at Atanasovsko are limited and uneven. Parts of the lagoon are used for salt production and the wider area is a protected wetland important for birds and biodiversity, so many zones are marked as restricted and swimming is discouraged or prohibited to avoid disturbance and for safety where depths and substrates are variable. Where the lake meets the Black Sea there are accessible beaches and people do swim, but open-water bathing inside the inner basin should be approached cautiously and in accordance with local signage and regulations because of conservation rules, variable water quality and the shallow, often muddy bottom.
