*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Durankulak (Bulgarian: Дуранкулашко езеро) is a shallow, brackish coastal lake on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast whose temperatures vary substantially with the seasons. Because it is shallow and well connected to local climatic conditions, winter surface temperatures commonly drop to around 0–8 °C (32–46 °F), spring sees a rise to roughly 6–16 °C (43–61 °F), summer surface waters often warm to about 20–28 °C (68–82 °F), and autumn cooling typically brings temperatures into the 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) range. Local weather, wind and water inflow can cause short-term variations, and isolated shallow bays may warm more quickly than deeper sections.
Swimming opportunities at Durankulak are limited and subject to conservation and safety considerations. The lake and surrounding wetlands are ecologically sensitive bird and habitat areas, and parts are protected, so recreational access can be restricted or discouraged to avoid disturbing wildlife. In addition, dense reedbeds, shallow muddy bottoms and occasional algal growth can make many shorelines unsuitable for comfortable or safe bathing. While locals may swim in non-protected spots during warm months, official rules and seasonal signage should be checked; in general swimming is not the primary use of the lake because of ecological protection and variable water conditions.
