** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Shabla (Шабленско езеро) is a shallow coastal lagoon on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, so its water temperatures change noticeably with the seasons. In winter the lake typically cools to around 0–5 °C (32–41 °F). Spring sees gradual warming to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). In summer, shallow depths allow the water to heat up, commonly reaching about 20–27 °C (68–81 °F) with occasional peaks in the high 20s °C (around 80–82 °F) on hot days. During autumn temperatures fall back into the 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) range. Because the lagoon is shallow and partly connected to the sea, it responds quickly to air temperature and can warm more than the open sea in calm conditions.
Swimming in Lake Shabla is possible in the warmer months, but it is not a formal beach destination in the way of nearby seaside resorts. Parts of the area are valued for wildlife and some zones are protected to conserve bird and wetland habitats, so access and recreational use may be limited or discouraged in specific stretches. The lake’s shallow, often muddy bottom, reed beds and occasional water-quality issues mean that although people may bathe there, swimming is typically informal, sometimes restricted by local rules, and best approached with caution.
