** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Lake of Alepu (Bulgarian: Алепу) is a shallow coastal lagoon near the Black Sea coast in Burgas Province. Because it is small and often separated from the open sea by a sandbar, its water temperature varies with the seasons and local conditions. In summer the lagoon typically warms to roughly 20–28 °C (68–82 °F), occasionally higher in very calm weather; late spring and early autumn temperatures usually fall in the 8–18 °C (46–64 °F) range. In winter the water commonly cools to around 2–8 °C (36–46 °F), although freezing is uncommon because of the maritime climate.
Swimming in the lake itself is technically possible in many places, but it is often discouraged. Alepu is part of a protected natural area and supports reed beds and bird habitat, so recreational access is restricted in spots to protect wildlife. The lagoon’s shallowness and limited water exchange can also lead to warmer, stagnant conditions and variable water quality in summer, making it less suitable than the adjacent Black Sea beach for swimming. Visitors seeking bathing typically use the nearby seaside rather than the lake to ensure cleaner water and fewer habitat impacts.
