** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Burgas (Бургаско езеро) is a shallow coastal lake near the city of Burgas on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. Because it is relatively shallow and influenced by local climate, water temperatures show marked seasonal variation: in winter the surface often ranges from about 0–8 °C (32–46 °F), in spring roughly 6–16 °C (43–61 °F), in summer typically 18–28 °C (64–82 °F), and in autumn around 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). These figures can vary year to year and between shallow bays and slightly deeper channels, with the shallow margins warming faster in sunny weather and cooling quickly in cold spells.
Swimming at Lake Burgas is generally not common and in many areas is discouraged or restricted. The reasons are practical and environmental: the lake’s water quality can be impacted by runoff, nutrient loading and occasional algal blooms, and parts of the lake lie within protected wetlands important for birdlife, where bathing would disturb habitats. For safe recreational swimming, residents and visitors typically use nearby monitored Black Sea beaches rather than the lake itself; any local rules or signage should be followed because authorities may impose seasonal bans or advisories for health and conservation reasons.
