Location & Local Information
Lake Grahovo is an artificial lake in the Grahovo field region of Montenegro, created primarily for irrigation purposes. The lake's position in a continental climate allows its shallow waters to experience a broad seasonal temperature range. Swimming is generally allowed during the summer, making the lake a popular local spot for recreation when the temperatures are most favourable. However, visitors should note that this is a non-regulated swimming area, and care should always be taken.
The water temperature fluctuates significantly throughout the year. In the height of winter, around January, the average water temperature can drop to a chilly 2∘C, with the lake often partially or fully freezing over, thus making swimming impossible and dangerous. Conversely, during the peak summer months of July and August, the shallow nature of the reservoir allows the surface water temperature to warm up considerably, reaching pleasant levels around 22∘C to 24∘C, ideal for summer bathing and enjoying water-based activities.
