Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Gjorče Petrov is a municipality located on the western outskirts of Skopje, through which the Vardar River flows. The water temperature of the Vardar in this part of its course reflects the continental climate of the Skopje region. In the cold winter months, the temperature drops significantly, typically ranging from 2∘C to 6∘C, sometimes nearing freezing. During the summer, the shallow parts of the river can warm up due to high ambient air temperatures, with surface water occasionally reaching between 18∘C and 22∘C in the sunniest periods.
Swimming in the Vardar River near Gjorče Petrov is officially not allowed and is strongly discouraged due to continuous and long-standing concerns regarding water pollution. As the river flows through or past much of the Skopje metropolitan area, the water quality is frequently compromised by untreated sewage and urban runoff. Public health warnings advise against recreational use, including swimming, to prevent the risk of infection and illness. Consequently, the river is mainly utilized for irrigation and is valued more for its natural corridor than for bathing opportunities.
