*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Gjilan (Gjilani / Гњилане) is a city in eastern Kosovo, where local water bodies like the Mirusha River and other smaller tributaries flow through the urban and surrounding areas. These rivers, fed by streams from the surrounding hills, display seasonal temperature variations typical of the region's continental climate. In the cold winter months, the river water temperature is quite low, generally ranging from 4∘C to 8∘C, with surface ice potentially forming during extended freezes. Conversely, in the summer, the shallower flow in the lower courses, combined with high air temperatures, allows the water surface to warm up, sometimes reaching 18∘C to 22∘C.
Swimming in the rivers near Gjilan, including the Mirusha, is not officially sanctioned and is generally discouraged for public health reasons. Despite the moderate summer temperatures, the water quality is a significant concern, particularly where the rivers pass through the urban core. They are known to receive untreated municipal and potentially industrial runoff, which leads to high levels of pollution and bacterial contamination. Due to the lack of designated, monitored bathing areas and the health risks associated with poor water quality, authorities advise against recreational swimming in these natural water bodies.
