Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Tetovo is a city in the northwestern part of North Macedonia, famously bisected by the Pena River, which originates high up on Mount Sharr (Shar Planina). As a fast-flowing mountain river with headwaters at high altitudes, the Pena maintains a consistently very cold temperature throughout its course through the city. In the winter months, the water temperature is near freezing, typically ranging from 1∘C to 5∘C, often carrying snowmelt. Even during the peak of the hot continental summer, the rapid influx of cold mountain water keeps the Pena chilly, with temperatures rarely rising above 14∘C to 18∘C.
Swimming in the Pena River near Tetovo is not advised or permitted. The combination of extremely cold water temperatures, even in summer, and the fast, turbulent currents inherent to a mountain river pose significant safety hazards, including a high risk of hypothermia and drowning. Furthermore, as the river flows directly through the city, its water quality can be subject to contamination from urban and municipal runoff, making it hygienically unsuitable for public bathing. The river is primarily appreciated for its scenic value, its rapid flow, and its role in the city's identity.
