** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pristina (Prishtina / Приштина), the capital of Kosovo, is situated in the central region, where the Sitnica River flows through a densely populated and industrialized corridor. The water temperature in the Sitnica, a low-lying river influenced by continental climate and urban runoff, shows variation throughout the year. In the winter months, the water is very cold, typically dropping to between 4∘C and 8∘C. During the summer, the shallow depth and prolonged exposure to high air temperatures allow the surface water to warm, potentially reaching 15∘C to 20∘C in some parts, although the flow generally keeps the temperature from rising significantly higher.
Swimming in the Sitnica River near Pristina is strictly prohibited and poses severe health risks. The river suffers from extensive and significant anthropogenic pollution, primarily from untreated municipal and industrial wastewater discharge along its course, including contributions from nearby power plants. Consequently, the water quality is hygienically unacceptable, often containing high levels of heavy metals and bacteria. Due to this severe contamination, the river is not suitable or designated for any recreational use, and swimming is actively discouraged by authorities to prevent serious waterborne diseases.
