*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Peja (Pejë / Пећ) is a city in western Kosovo situated at the foot of the magnificent Bjeshkët e Nemuna (Accursed Mountains), through which the Lumbardhi i Pejës (Peć Bistrica) river flows. This river, a major tributary of the White Drin, is known for its consistently low water temperatures due to its high-altitude, mountainous source and high flow rate. Throughout the winter, the water temperature remains frigid, typically ranging between 4∘C and 8∘C due to the ongoing input of snowmelt. Even in the height of summer, the river remains cold, with temperatures rarely exceeding 12∘C to 16∘C.
Swimming in the Peć Bistrica is not generally allowed or recommended, particularly within and downstream of the urban area. The river's cold temperature and strong currents, especially in the Peja Gorge section, pose significant safety hazards, including the risk of hypothermia. Furthermore, while the upper reaches are clean, the water quality is compromised as it flows through the city due to untreated urban runoff and municipal discharges. As there are no designated, monitored swimming areas and the water quality is variable, public health authorities advise against recreational bathing to mitigate safety risks and prevent potential waterborne illnesses.
