Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Gjakova (Ђаковица, Gjakova) lies in western Kosovo, along the banks of the Erenik River, which flows from the nearby Accursed Mountains before joining the White Drin. The river brings clear, cool mountain water that remains relatively cold for most of the year. In winter, the temperature is usually around 2–5 °C, rising to 8–12 °C in spring as snowmelt increases the flow. During summer, water temperatures reach 18–21 °C near Gjakova, making it refreshing but still on the cool side for long swimming. In autumn, the river cools again to about 10–12 °C as air temperatures drop.
Swimming in the Erenik River around Gjakova is possible in calmer and shallower sections, especially during July and August when the water is at its warmest. However, swimming is not officially organized and depends on local conditions. The current can be strong in some areas, and the riverbed is uneven, so caution is advised. Many residents prefer to relax along the riverbanks or enjoy fishing and picnicking rather than swimming. The Erenik’s fresh and clean water adds to Gjakova’s natural charm, offering locals and visitors a pleasant setting for recreation and contact with nature.
