Water Temperature Trends
Zakarpattia Oblast, located in the southwestern part of Ukraine, is known for its mountainous terrain and numerous rivers and lakes, including tributaries of the Tisza River. During the summer months, the water temperature in the rivers and lakes of Zakarpattia typically ranges from 18°C to 22°C (64°F to 72°F). These pleasant temperatures are ideal for swimming, fishing, and other water-based activities. The region’s lakes, especially those located in more scenic areas, attract visitors looking to enjoy a refreshing dip or a relaxing day by the water.
In the spring and autumn, the water temperature in the rivers and lakes of Zakarpattia drops to around 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F). This makes swimming less comfortable, but it is still a good time for fishing and other recreational activities like kayaking. During the colder months of winter, the temperature of the water in the rivers and lakes drops significantly, reaching around 0°C to 2°C (32°F to 36°F), causing shallow areas to freeze. This provides opportunities for ice fishing and other winter sports, though water-based activities are limited during this time due to the cold temperatures.
