Water Temperature Trends
Kherson Oblast, located in the southern part of Ukraine, has a coastline along the Black Sea and includes several rivers and lakes, including the Dnieper River and its delta. In the summer months, the water temperature in the Black Sea along Kherson’s coast typically ranges from 22°C to 26°C (72°F to 79°F). These warmer temperatures make the sea very popular for swimming, fishing, and other water-based activities, with many people visiting the coastal resorts to enjoy the summer weather.
In the spring and autumn, the water temperature in the Black Sea around Kherson drops to about 14°C to 18°C (57°F to 64°F), which is still cool but allows for some water activities like boating or fishing. The Dnieper River and its reservoirs also experience similar temperature fluctuations, with summer temperatures ranging from 20°C to 24°C (68°F to 75°F), making them popular for recreational use. In winter, the water temperature in both the Black Sea and the rivers drops to around 4°C to 6°C (39°F to 43°F), with the colder water making swimming unappealing. The river sections and lakes may freeze in colder conditions, offering opportunities for winter activities such as ice fishing.
