The town of Mizhhirya, located in the Carpathian region of western Ukraine, lies along the Rika River — a clean mountain stream flowing through valleys surrounded by forested hills. The water in this part of the river is cool and clear throughout most of the year. In late spring, as snow melts in the mountains, the river temperature remains around 10–14°C, gradually rising to 17–19°C by mid-summer. During July and August, on particularly warm days, shallow sections near the town can reach 20–21°C, which makes short swims refreshing but not too cold. By September, the water cools quickly again, especially after rains or cool nights.
Swimming in the Rika River near Mizhhirya is best suited for those who enjoy natural, invigorating mountain waters.
