*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Sava River is the longest river flowing through Slovenia, running from the northwest near the Julian Alps and continuing toward Croatia. Its water temperature varies greatly depending on the season and location. In summer, near lower stretches in Slovenia, the surface temperature can reach 20–24°C, making some calmer sections suitable for swimming. In spring and autumn, the water is cooler, typically around 12–16°C, while in winter it can drop to 4–6°C or lower in certain areas.
Swimming in the Sava is possible in some sections, especially where the current is mild and the banks are accessible. However, because the river is flowing, the water can be unpredictable, and some parts have strong currents, making swimming unsafe. Popular spots for a dip are usually small beaches or areas with slower water near towns and recreational facilities.
Outside of summer, swimming is less common due to cooler temperatures and stronger currents. People often enjoy walking, cycling along the riverbanks, or picnicking by the river rather than bathing. Even a short dip in summer can be refreshing, especially on hot days.
