The Mirna River flows through southeastern Slovenia, winding across a gentle landscape of hills and valleys before joining the Sava. As a lowland river, it responds more to seasonal weather than to snowmelt, which means that in spring the water is relatively cool, around 12–15°C, while in summer it can warm up to 20–24°C in shallow stretches. This makes it noticeably milder than alpine rivers, giving it more potential for casual bathing.
Swimming in the Mirna is not a widespread activity, yet locals sometimes use its calmer and wider sections to cool off during hot days.
