Location & Local Information
The town of Sevnica lies along the Sava River in southeastern Slovenia, where the river flows gently through urban areas, forests, and open meadows. In this lowland section, the water warms up noticeably during summer. From June to August, surface temperatures in slower, shallower sections near Sevnica usually reach 20–24°C, making swimming and wading comfortable. In spring and autumn, the water is cooler, typically around 12–16°C, while in winter it drops to 4–6°C.
Swimming directly in the Sava at Sevnica is limited because of varying currents and urban infrastructure, but some calmer, shallow sections along the riverbanks can be used for a quick dip.
