Location & Local Information
The city of Kranj lies along the Sava River in northern Slovenia, where the river flows through a mix of urban areas and green spaces. At this point, the Sava is a lowland river, and the water warms up more in summer than in its alpine stretches. From June to August, surface temperatures in slower, shallower sections near Kranj usually reach 20–24°C, providing comfortable conditions for swimming. In spring and autumn, the water is cooler, typically around 12–16°C, while in winter it drops to 4–6°C.
Swimming in the Sava within Kranj is limited due to urban infrastructure and varying currents.
