** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Rio Rabagão in the Braga District is a relatively cool, upland river whose water temperature varies strongly with season, flow and exposure. In winter the river typically runs cold, often between about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), while spring temperatures commonly rise into the 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) range as snowmelt and rain increase flows. In summer the warmest, more placid pools and lower-velocity reaches can reach roughly 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), though faster, shaded sections remain noticeably cooler. Autumn usually brings a gradual cooling back toward 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as air temperatures fall and rainfall patterns change.
Swimming in the Rio Rabagão is possible in suitable, calmer stretches particularly in the warmest weeks of summer, but it is not universally advisable everywhere along the river. Local restrictions may apply near dams, reservoirs or private land, and hazards such as sudden depth changes, submerged rocks and strong currents can make particular spots unsafe. Even in summer, cold water can cause shock or rapid heat loss, so swimmers should heed signage, use caution, avoid risky areas, supervise children, and check with local authorities or residents about permitted and safe places to enter the water.
