*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Valgevälja liivakarjäär (Valgevälja quarry lake) in Estonia is a former sand quarry that fills with clear, often deep water. Seasonal surface temperatures typically range from near freezing in winter—around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) when ice is present—to cool spring and autumn values of roughly 4–14 °C (39–57 °F). In summer the shallows warm more noticeably, with surface readings commonly between 16–22 °C (61–72 °F), and on warm, calm days shallow spots can approach 24–26 °C (75–79 °F). Because the basin is relatively deep in places, deeper water remains considerably colder year-round, so temperature can drop rapidly just a few metres below the surface.
Swimming is commonly done at quarry lakes like Valgevälja, and there are no extensive facilities or lifeguard services at many such sites, so swimming is effectively allowed but not formally supervised. Visitors should be aware of sudden depth changes, cold deep layers, and limited safety infrastructure, and should check local signage or landowner rules before entering the water. Water quality and access can vary with season and maintenance, so swimmers are advised to exercise caution, enter slowly to acclimatize to temperature changes, and avoid lone or risky dives into unknown depths.
