** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Karujärv (Estonian: Karujärv) is a typical small Estonian lake whose water temperature follows the seasonal rhythm of the region. In winter the surface usually falls to around 0 °C (32 °F) and under ice water remains close to 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). In spring the lake warms slowly, often ranging from about 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) depending on late frosts and sunshine. Peak summer temperatures are generally between 15–25 °C (59–77 °F) in most years, with shallow bays occasionally reaching 26–27 °C (79–81 °F) during heat waves. In autumn the water cools again to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as the nights lengthen and storms mix the water column. Actual temperatures vary with depth, weather and shoreline exposure.
Swimming at Karujärv is commonly possible and permitted at publicly accessible shores, but local conditions determine safety. Warm summer temperatures around 20–25 °C (68–77 °F) are comfortable for most swimmers, while waters below about 18 °C (64 °F) feel chilly and those under 10 °C (50 °F) can pose a risk of cold-water shock without acclimatization. Blue‑green algal blooms, water quality advisories, protected-area restrictions or posted bans may occasionally close parts of the lake, so check local signage and use basic precautions such as supervising children, avoiding alcohol and noting sudden weather changes.
