** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Tõhela (Estonian: Tõhela järv) is a shallow Baltic-region lake whose water temperature varies markedly through the year. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures typically rise from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and air warms. By early summer (June) temperatures often sit around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) and in the warmest months of July–August the lake can reach roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) on sunny years, especially in shallow bays. In autumn (September–October) temperatures fall again to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). During winter, when the lake is ice-covered, water just beneath the ice generally remains near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F).
Swimming at Tõhela järv is generally possible and not formally restricted at public access points, but conditions and safety vary. The shallow depth and reed-lined shores mean the lake warms quickly but is also prone to algae or cyanobacterial blooms in hot, calm periods, which can make swimming inadvisable. Visibility and underwater vegetation can affect safe entry and exit, and cold-season immersion carries clear hypothermia risks unless done with proper precautions. Visitors should look for local signage, check recent water quality reports if available, and use common-sense safety measures before swimming.
