*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Utah Lake is a broad, shallow freshwater body in Utah Valley whose depth and size make its temperature change noticeably through the year. In winter the surface often sits near freezing to the mid 40s Fahrenheit (about 0–7 °C). Spring warms from roughly the mid 40s to mid 60s °F (7–18 °C) as runoff and air temperatures rise. Peak summer temperatures commonly reach the upper 60s to mid 80s °F (20–30 °C), with occasional heat spells pushing the surface even higher. During autumn the water typically cools back into the 50s to low 70s °F (10–22 °C). Because the lake is relatively shallow, it responds quickly to seasonal air temperatures and can stratify or mix depending on wind and weather, which affects surface warmth.
Swimming at Utah Lake is generally allowed and the lake is used for recreation, but conditions vary and visitors should exercise caution. Designated beaches and parks provide safer, monitored entry points, yet water quality can be inconsistent; shallow waters and warm summertime temperatures sometimes promote algal blooms (including cyanobacteria) and elevated bacteria levels. Local health agencies issue advisories when necessary, so checking current warnings and avoiding discolored or scummy water makes swimming safer. Personal precautions like avoiding ingestion of lake water and rinsing off afterward are recommended.
