Mantua Reservoir (Lake of Mantua) sits in northern Utah and shows pronounced seasonal changes in surface temperature. In spring the water typically runs cold, roughly 40–60°F (4–16°C) as snowmelt and cool inflows dominate. Summer brings the warmest surface readings, commonly in the 60–75°F range (16–24°C) on sunny days, though deeper layers remain cooler. By fall the reservoir cools again to about 45–65°F (7–18°C) as air temperatures drop and turnover begins. In winter the surface approaches freezing, around 32°F (0°C), and portions of the lake may ice over depending on conditions.
Swimming is not formally provided with staffed beaches at Mantua Reservoir, but recreational swimming does occur, particularly in summer when surface temperatures are most comfortable.
