*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Scofield Reservoir sits at high elevation in central Utah, so its water stays relatively cool even in summer. Typical seasonal surface temperatures range roughly from about 32–40°F (0–4°C) in winter when ice and slush are common, to spring and early summer values near 35–55°F (2–13°C) as snowmelt flushes cold water in. The warmest period is mid to late summer, when surface temperatures commonly rise to around 58–70°F (14–21°C) on the warmest afternoons, then fall back to roughly 45–60°F (7–16°C) in autumn as air temperatures decline.
Swimming is generally permitted at Scofield Reservoir because it is managed as a public recreation area, and designated beach or shoreline access points are available. However, the water’s persistent coolness, sudden drop-offs, boat traffic, and limited or no lifeguard coverage make cautious judgement important. Cold water can cause shock and rapid loss of body heat even on warm days, so shorter dips, wetsuits, flotation, and awareness of boating zones are prudent. In winter months the reservoir is usually unsafe for swimming due to ice and near‑freezing water temperatures.
