** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Strawberry Reservoir is a high-elevation lake in Utah whose water temperatures stay quite cool for much of the year. During winter the surface often drops to near freezing, around 32°F (0°C), and the reservoir can be ice-covered. In spring, as snowmelt continues, surface temperatures typically range from roughly 35–50°F (2–10°C). By mid to late summer the warmest surface readings are usually between about 55–70°F (13–21°C), though warm spells can push localized surface patches slightly higher on calm, sunny days. In fall the water cools again, commonly falling into the 40–55°F range (4–13°C). Because Strawberry is deep in places and fed by cold mountain runoff, deeper water remains much colder than surface averages throughout the season.
Swimming is generally permitted at Strawberry Reservoir since it is a public recreational area, but people are advised to exercise caution. The cold temperatures, even in summer, increase the risk of cold-water shock and hypothermia, especially if swimmers venture into deeper or shaded areas. There are also few lifeguarded beaches, frequent boat traffic, and abrupt drop-offs around the reservoir, all of which affect safety. In winter the ice cover makes open-water swimming impractical and dangerous. Swimmers should plan for cold conditions, use flotation if needed, and follow local rules and posted advisories.
