*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pineview Reservoir, nestled in Utah’s Ogden Valley, experiences marked seasonal shifts in water temperature due to its mountain-fed sources and changing air temperatures. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures commonly range from about 40–60°F (4–16°C) as snowmelt keeps the water cold. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, with typical surface temperatures roughly 65–80°F (18–27°C) and some shallow areas reaching the mid-70s to low 80s °F (23–28°C) on hot, calm days. Early fall (September) often sees temperatures cooling to around 60–70°F (16–21°C). By late fall and winter the reservoir approaches freezing; surface temperatures frequently fall to about 32–40°F (0–4°C) and parts of the lake may ice over.
Swimming at Pineview Reservoir is generally permitted and popular during the warmer months because the lake is managed for recreation and has public access beaches and launch points. However, conditions vary: there are often no lifeguards, boat traffic can be significant, and cold water—even in summer—can pose shock risk, particularly below the surface where colder layers persist. Visitors should follow posted rules, be mindful of changing temperatures and water levels, and exercise caution around boats and sudden drop-offs.
