*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#South Yorkshire
Redmires Reservoirs, on the northern edge of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, sit among moorland and mixed woodland and are part of the region’s water supply and landscape history. Water temperatures vary by season: in summer the surface commonly warms to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) on warm days, spring and autumn typically see 6–14 °C (43–57 °F), while winter temperatures often fall to around 1–6 °C (34–43 °F) and can be colder in prolonged cold spells. These are general ranges; conditions change with weather, depth and inflow.
Swimming in Redmires is generally not authorized and is discouraged because the reservoirs form part of the drinking-water system and present hazards such as cold shock, submerged structures and strong undercurrents. Despite this, the area is popular for walking, birdwatching and photography, with riverside paths and wooded slopes nearby. The reservoirs also provide convenient access to wider outdoor attractions: the Rivelin and Loxley valleys, and the northern approaches to the Peak District, making the spot valued for low-impact recreation rather than open-water bathing.
