** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#South Yorkshire
Damflask Reservoir, near Low Bradfield in South Yorkshire on the edge of the Peak District, tends to be noticeably cool year-round. Typical seasonal surface temperatures range from around 2–6 °C (36–43 °F) in winter, 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in spring and autumn, and roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) on the warmest summer days. Because it is a deep upland reservoir, thermoclines and cold undercurrents can make water feel colder than the surface reading suggests, and temperatures can drop quickly away from shore.
Swimming in Damflask is generally discouraged and often restricted because of safety and water-supply considerations — cold water shock, submerged hazards, changing weather, and the reservoir’s operational status all present risks. Organized, supervised activities such as boating or sailing are the safer, permitted options in many seasons. The surrounding area does offer pleasant alternatives: walking and cycling routes, woodland and moorland scenery, nearby Peak District trails, and the village of Low Bradfield with its historic buildings and cafes for visitors.
