*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ognyanovo Reservoir (Язовир Огняново) typically shows clear seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In spring, from March to May, surface temperatures generally range from about 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) as the water warms after winter. Peak summer temperatures in July and August often reach roughly 20–27 °C (68–81 °F) at the surface on warm years, while early autumn in September–October cools back to approximately 15–22 °C (59–72 °F). In late autumn and winter the reservoir can fall to near freezing or just above, about 0–6 °C (32–43 °F), and shallow bays may even freeze in cold spells. Actual temperature at any time depends on recent weather, wind, depth and inflow, so readings can vary locally.
Swimming is practiced informally at Ognyanovo in the warm months when surface temperatures are comfortable, but it is not a formally supervised bathing beach and local rules may restrict access because it is a managed reservoir used for water supply, irrigation and fishing. That means there can be safety hazards such as steep drop-offs, submerged structures, boat traffic and variable water quality; there are often no lifeguards, and signage or municipal regulations may prohibit swimming in parts of the reservoir. Visitors should check local guidance, observe posted signs and take usual precautions if entering the water.
