** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pchelina Reservoir (Язовир Пчелина) exhibits clear seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In winter the surface usually hovers close to freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), and the lake can remain quite cold into early spring. During spring the surface warms to approximately 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as air temperatures rise and stratification begins. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with typical surface temperatures between 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) and occasional peaks up to about 28 °C (82 °F) during heatwaves; deeper water remains cooler. In autumn the reservoir cools back down to about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) before winter turnover.
Swimming at Pchelina is commonly practiced and generally allowed in open recreational areas, as the reservoir is used for leisure and local tourism. However, formal restrictions can apply near dam structures, intake zones or where signage prohibits access; lifeguard services are not guaranteed and water quality can vary seasonally, with possible algal growth or turbidity after hot, calm weather or heavy runoff. For safety and environmental reasons swimmers are advised to use designated spots, heed local notices, and be aware of underwater hazards and boat traffic.
