*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Beli Iskar Reservoir (Язовир Бели Искър) is a mountain reservoir whose water temperatures remain cool year-round because of elevation and shaded inflows. In winter the surface commonly approaches freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice possible in cold spells. Spring sees a gradual rise as snowmelt and runoff warm the basin to about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F). Peak summer temperatures are modest compared with lowland lakes, typically in the range of 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) on warm days; evenings and deeper layers stay noticeably colder. In autumn the water cools again to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) as air temperatures drop and inflows cool.
Swimming in the reservoir is physically possible during the warmer months, but it is not always encouraged or explicitly permitted. Many reservoirs, including Beli Iskar, are managed for water supply, flood control or hydroelectric purposes and may have restrictions to protect water quality and infrastructure. Cold, deep water, sudden drop-offs, submerged structures and lack of lifeguards create safety risks and increase the chance of cold-water shock. Local rules and signage determine whether bathing is allowed, so visitors should follow posted regulations and exercise caution if they choose to enter the water.
