*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Topolnitsa Reservoir (Язовир Тополница) typically shows clear seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In winter the surface can fall to around 0–5 °C (32–41 °F), often close to freezing in cold spells. Spring temperatures rise gradually to roughly 6–15 °C (43–59 °F) as the air warms and inflows increase. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with common surface readings of about 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) and occasional localized highs during heat waves. In autumn the water cools again to approximately 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as daylight shortens and river inputs change, so thermal stratification and temperature layering can occur at times.
Swimming in the reservoir is generally possible and commonly done by locals, but it is not formally supervised at most spots and certain areas are restricted. Some zones near the dam, intake structures or busy boating areas may be off-limits for safety and water management reasons, and because the reservoir serves irrigation and local water needs water quality can vary seasonally. Visitors should heed local signs, avoid strong currents and steep banks, and be aware that shoulder-season temperatures pose hypothermia risk despite seeming mild. No organized lifeguard coverage should be assumed.
